Floating shelves

Floating shelves are shelves without brackets. Here are the frames that are made to fit into the recess in this instance next to a chimney breast. Next comes the MDF that is glued on the underneath of the frame as well as on top. Finally a lipping (front) is fitted to hide the edge of the MDF and the end grain of the frame. The overall finish thickness is around 50mm (2″). Sutable for openings to around 1.5 M. These are then painted by the customer using the same paint that was used on the wall thus giving a seamless floating shelf. Other materials for the top, bottom and fronts can be used for instance a hardwood veneered board or just simple pine boards.
