Restoration of the Archie Heath Room

This series of pictures are of the Archie Heath Room within Hursley village hall.

This building was originally a Victorian school house and has some impressive original features. On the exterior of the building all of the windows were stripped and renovated using a specialist flexi-gloss paint. On the inside the vaulted ceilings were renovated along with the walls and skirting boards. The interior window frames were stripped and refurbished along with the doors and door frames. Due to the height of the vaulted ceilings scaffolding was erected inside to access the wooden beams and the ceiling. Overall the beams were in a reasonable condition although the ceiling and walls were in a poor state of repair with flaking paint and lots of damp patches, holes and dents. The walls were painted in a neutral magnolia colour whilst the ceiling was painted in the traditional white. The skirting boards were painted in a deep grey colour and the external door was repainted in the existing bottle green. The lockers were finished in a washable eggshell white which, as a high wear area should prolong the life of the lockers.
